Agri-environmental Soil Sustainability Incentive System

In response to the significant results that have been obtained since putting in place the Agro-environmental Soil Sustainability Incentive System (SIRSD-S), the Ministry of Agriculture has renewed its efforts in this area, confirming the continuity of the said System for a 12 year period beginning in 2010 with the prime objective of working towards sustainability in agricultural production processes. An annual budget of no less than 60 million dollars was assigned to implement the system and the goal is to extend it by 150.000 hectares per year.

SAG runs public tenders every year to distribute resources in the form of incentives for producers who put in place a set of practices that ensure that soils used for agriculture and livestock will be sustainable in the long term.
